This is a dirty, naughty
book filled with dirty
naughty secrets....
Would you care to join
us in the
TEA ROOM?
After breakfast at the tube, my girl child would come
in to cuddle.
I would wake up slowly
and listen to her secrets.

A few months ago my now 22-year-old baby girl ran out of money and
options.  She came home to stay with mom while she figured out what
comes next.

Liz learned how to be a self starter on Saturday mornings when she
was three.  She got a job and has saved her money.  Our schedules
are reversed though.  She works weekend nights and I work weekday
days, so even though we live in the same house we haven’t been able
to spend a lot of time together.

Sometimes, on her way back from work she picks up a latte just the
way I like it.   She wakes me up gently with a hug.  We sip hot
beverages while she winds down from her graveyard shift and I start
my weekend.  We reminisce and dream.  Our lives are so different
now.  I’m divorced and she’s grown up.  Yet Saturday mornings are still
our sacred time for sharing and nurturing.

Our love has come another full circle.  My daughter is ready to venture
forth on her own again. We are two independent women who have
discovered love is living your own life, with the safety net of knowing
we always have a home in one other.

When my kids were little they woke up A LOT earlier on
Saturdays than I wanted to.  On Friday nights I would
portion out covered bowls of Cheerios and tippy cups of
milk so they could get their own breakfast the next
morning.  Then while they watched cartoons, I would
steal a few extra minutes of shuteye.  This practice
never earned me mother of the year, but it taught them
self sufficiency.
